Bahrain will join the international community in celebrating the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is observed worldwide on June 26, under the theme “Share Drug Facts, Save Lives.”
The celebration will feature many educational and awareness-raising events and activities, including lectures and functions aimed at raising youth awareness of the dangers of this scourge, within the framework of the family, educational and social institutions.
The Ministry seeks to make qualitative efforts, develop proactive plans, and launch awareness programmes to reduce drug use.
It has also taken measures to control the distribution of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances within health institutions, as well as implement awareness and preventive programmes to limit drug abuse and trafficking, and introduce their harms to school and university students, in addition to youth clubs, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and other relevant authorities.
The Kingdom’s participation in the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking aims to raise social awareness of the importance of combating drugs and psychotropic substances and addressing them in order to ensure that society is free of this scourge, and to enhance social responsibility, as combating drugs requires the solidarity of all within the framework of an integrated system of community partnership.
