BRCS participates in IFRC Statutory Meetings

The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) represented the Kingdom in the Statutory Meetings of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement held in Geneva on June 19 – 23.The participants include 192 national Red Crescent and Red Cross societies and ICRC senior representatives and the International Federation.

 

 

“BRCS is working to highlight the efforts of the Kingdom in relief and humanitarian work both internally and externally and to exchange experiences and expertise with its counterparts around the world,” BRCS Secretary-General Mubarak Khalifa Al Hadi said.

 

“The meetings are a good opportunity to familiarize the participants with Bahraini practices in the field of major issues such as confronting the Corona pandemic, volunteering, climate issues, and others.”

 

BRCS contributed during the meetings to the election of the Secretary-General of the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society Maha Al Barjas as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for the Asia and Pacific region and the first Arab woman to hold this position in the history of the movement.

 

He added that the society also contributed to the election of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority to the board of directors of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent for the Asia-Pacific region for a new four-year term.
