HM King receives NAO President; commends efforts to preserve public money

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received, at the Al-Sakhir Palace today, the President of the National Audit Office (NAO), Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, who submitted to HM the 19th annual NAO report for 2021-2022.HM the King commended efforts exerted by NAO President and cadres, praising their distinguished performance and their achievements in preserving public money and verifying the legality and aspects of its expenditures, in light of their keenness to implement the highest levels of integrity, professionalism and transparency to achieve the interests of the nation and the citizens.HM King Hamad hailed the major role played by NAO in assuming its responsibilities to the fullest, preserving the independence of its work in a way that contributes to improving the performance of state ministries and institutions, as well as ensuring that the highest levels of productivity, efficiency and optimal use of all resources are reached in order to achieve the public interests.Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed attributed NAO’s developed performance since its establishment to HM the King’s unwavering support and wise directives.

He said that during the audience, he listened to HM King Hamad’s sound directives.

He also briefed HM the King about NAO’s future plans and development programmes, including the continuous investment in the human element and the expansion of oversight services, especially recent ones such as investigative auditing, digital transformation, and the effective use of technology.

He affirmed that NAO is one of the fruits of HM the King’s Reform Project, noting that NAO enjoys full independence as per the Law, which enables it to carry out its tasks with freedom, competence and transparency.

He highlighted the positive response of those covered by NAO’s remarks and reports, reflecting the efficiency of NAO’s procedures, particularly regarding the development of clear and specific plans to implement the recommendations.

He appreciated the role played by the NAO’s staff to carry out the tasks assigned to them, citing their efforts and perseverance in implementing NAO’s work plans, preparing reports and completing their duties efficiently, transparently and professionally.
