Bahrain LNG: Pioneering Natural Gas Solutions

Introduction

Registered in December 2015, Bahrain LNG is dedicated to providing innovative solutions for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry. Our state-of-the-art terminal includes facilities for LNG receiving, storage, and regasification, located offshore Hidd. The gas conditioning and send-out plant are situated on the Khalifa Bin Salman Port (KBSP) causeway within the Hidd Industrial Area of Salman Industrial City.

LNG Facilities

Receiving and Storage

Bahrain LNG’s facility can receive and store up to 173,400 cubic meters (cbm) of LNG. LNG carriers deliver LNG to the terminal, where it is stored in a specialized Floating Storage Unit (FSU). This asset is specifically built for the Bahrain LNG import terminal, ensuring efficient and secure storage.

Regasification Process

The regasification process takes place on an offshore platform. The LNG is converted back into gas and transported to the onshore receiving facility through a subsea pipeline. The facility has a regasification capacity of up to 800 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd).

Gas Conditioning and Delivery

Ensuring Compatibility

To make the gas compatible with the Bahrain gas network, it is mixed with nitrogen. This process ensures that the gas meets the required specifications before being transported. The gas is then delivered to the Hidd Metering Station through another pipeline, ready for distribution.
